Support Slowdown during New Lunar Year Celebration

The JomSocial Team will be observing the New Lunar Year / Chinese New Year celebration which falls on Monday, 23rd January 2012 until Tuesday, 24th January 2012. There will be a delay in support delivery starting this weekend until the abovementioned date. 



The New Lunar Year is celebrated throughout Asia in countries with significant Chinese populations. In Malaysia, it is considered a major holiday and is celebrated by all of us irregardless of race and religion. Traditionally the family members roll up their sleeves to clean up the house to remove ill-fortunes and to make way for new luck. Family members will look forward to a family dinner feast which is organized on the Eve of New year while kids will be most gleeful the morning after, by getting pocketful of 'Ang-Pows'; money in red paper envelopes. In Malaysia, the celebration evolved into a colorful and elaborate maze of open-houses and nation-wide festivities. I personally cant wait to get my hands on those delicious, home-cooked dimsums. They are best when prepared with a bucketful of love. :)

Facebook Connect OAuth2.0 patch for JomSocial 2.2

As a continuation of our recent announcement regarding Facebook's OAuth2.0 update which affects all JomSocial communities that rely on Facebook Connect connectivity, we are releasing a patch for JomSocial 2.2 users.

Are you having trouble with Facebook Connect?

Facebook has recently updated its API and make it compulsory for Facebook Connect applications to use the latest OAuth 2.0. The announcement was made last Tuesday, 13th December 2011 in the official Facebook Blog:

These new changes with Facebook Connect may affect your vibrant JomSocial community. Be wary if:

  • You are still using JomSocial 2.2 and below.
    Older JomSocial versions do not support OAuth2.0. Support for the OAuth2.0 is only available in JomSocial 2.4 and above.
  • Your Facebook App ID/API Key was created ages ago
    Older App ID/API Key was not configured to support OAuth2.0. You will need to create new App ID/API Key.
